When the daylight after the Ice Saints makes the sprouting leaves dance around the Orgelfabrik, a bridge forms between the outside and the inside. The visitors start outside and explore room by room the inner core. The phases of getting to know are revealed through the interplay of painting, performance, and installation. They invite analysis, discovery, and observation. The body of the organ factory comes to life through the exchange between the outside of nature and the inside of the human. In the layers, the process of “Bespürung, Beschauung und Berührung” (sensing, observing, and touching) unfolds, inviting visitors on a journey to hidden depths.

What do we share in an intergenerational thought bubble? Concepts like quicksand and the Bermuda Triangle were once major concerns for my generation, things we believed we had to face and solve within our lifetime. Today, however, these worries have shifted, and new concerns dominate our collective thoughts. This exhibition explores these ideas, layering them with scientific and emotional visualizations and reflections.

I believe that growing up in a small, rural town in the South of Germany, with a house in the woods, is strongly reflected in my works. This exhibition features pieces by both my mother and me. The familial relationship in the works is twofold: first, in a mother-daughter dynamic, which points to an objectively biological connection (the first part title: “verwandt,” meaning related), and second, in a kindred bond, suggested by the second part title: “kindred.” However, how these kindred thoughts unfold in our works is very different, revealing, despite the familial connection, an exploration of ideas that sometimes take on contrasting perspectives—as if a thought were conceived by two different minds—shaped by different life stories, ages, places of residence, and experiences.
